This studio apartment is meant for an artist in residence and is connected to a Three Rooms gallery project through a "light tube" staircase. The artist has their work displayed above in the gallery space and lives below during the residency. The simple layout allows for the artist to bring whatever equipment they might need and minimizes the functional parts of an apartment to just a strip on the wall.
I am still very interested in an "apartment in a box" idea. I was very influenced by minimalism at this time but I am still curious about affordable pre-fab housing, and I wonder if this could lead to some solutions. The small kitchen, bathroom, and Murphy bed are all contained within the service rectangle.
